One of the most important innovations, Warcraft III offers more than the previous games is the way the role of hero units has changed. Where before heroes were very strong versions of standard units, now is the one with its own special abilities that normal units have access. For example, the hero of the game show or commercial products to improve their skills, defense, etc. With each kill an enemy in a certain number of points that has experienced hero ultimately increase their own charm and new options (this provides evidence that play role in the series). Some heroes can also apply beneficial auras to allied units.
Another innovation is the addition of exploration, computer-controlled characters of their players in combat multiplayer.
Protect key areas or neutral buildings and are designed to serve as a resource for players to kill, to experience points to give the players a hero and heroes to offer their products. The idea is to force the player to be aggressive and not level the battlefield to (the creation of strong defense and offense rarely).
In the game there are four races to war: the Alliance of Man and the Orcish Horde, which also appeared in Warcraft: Orcs & Man, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal, with two new teams in nature, the elves night and undead. As a joke before the release of the game, Blizzard announced that the Pandaren would be the fourth race. The company had no night elves until one month later, and pandas are a running gag in Warcraft now (as far as Pandaren hero the brewer said the expansion pack is available, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and presented to heads Pandaren Illidan sword and the rest of the class Demon Hunter hero). [9] A fifth playable race, the Burning Legion during play-testing a number of NPCs and monsters (with a playable jewel for the last stage of the campaign changed the undead, as Kel'Thuzad summons Archimonde).
Warcraft III also includes an integrated script editor called World Editor. It uses a scripting language, similar to the activation system used in StarCraft.
In addition to providing opportunities for all aspects of units, buildings and spells again, has advanced features such as custom tilesets, movie scenes, dialogue, variables, and weather conditions. Many custom maps developed by a variety of game modes, and the expansion pack, contributed to the longevity of the game
